I’m talking about the latest review of ‘Sex and the City’ on Christianity Today and the commentaries elsewhere such as that on Boundless and other Christian blogs.
My blog included. I had my own view and my own opinion. What prompted me to write another article on this though is that I think the debate has come too sour that one side is yelling, “Fundamentalist!” and the other side is yelling, “Pharisee!”
And here we are saying that we are Christians? Who are we really kidding?
Ok… so it’s not exactly a good reflection of us and it should stop.
The name calling, I mean. And the personal attacks. The world knows that we know better.
It’s okay to have a stand and an opinion. It’s also okay to have a counter-opinion because it’s okay to have an opinion.
But I really hope that we all thrown down the rocks and say, “You’re my brother. You’re my sister.” That sounds too mushy for the world but it’s what our Lord requires.
I still by the stand by my opinion that the Christianity Today review was very strange to think that such a movie could be a basis for single Christian women’s situations. I still think it’s hardly the case but the reviewer of Christianity Today did bring up the point about having some explanation better than “True Love Waits” for single Christians.
Christians out there… all with answered prayers and good testimonies to learn from, I call upon you to encourage us single people with your insight and stories.
