I not been much of a risk taker. I wanted to make sure that before I took any step, go through any investment or enter into any relationship … that everything should be ironed out. Or perfect… if it’s not too much to ask.
But I realized that while ensuring these conditions first are wise, taking too much time in them causes too much analysis and too much delays.
I realized that the more I wait for the perfect conditions, I’d have waited in vain simply because there is no such thing. In this world, there are thorns and thistles when we work the ground, as God Himself told Adam when the first man fell into sin.
You know how long it took me to visit my relatives in Canada? Around five years. They were so getting impatient. When I finally got a job that paid a lot of money, I figured that it was the time to go take that trip. That was until I had a series of family emergencies that simply replenished my savings for the trip. I thought… I’d wait a little more and save more.
But a year later, some “emergencies” would crop up and I realized… this will never work. I could go to the next job with probably half as much or the same, and never would’ve taken that trip. It’s only $1000. So I did go and it was absolutely great.
While that was a simple example, I then realized all the other delays I had especially on the vision God had set for me. I realized that by waiting for the perfect conditions, I had relied much of it on my own strength — how much money I’d save, how I’d do it, etc.
I realized that I can never expect the perfect conditions. I can only expect a perfect God.
Have you received a command from God to do something and you feel quite daunted that it is too big or it is just too great, you probably don’t have enough money or enough time to do it? Well, if it’s too big, then that’s just how God is, isn’t it? It’s His nature to do big things. It’s His nature to do things that last well over your lifetime. It’s His nature to do things that would benefit more people aside from you.
When God asks you to participate in that plan, it’s an honor. Don’t worry about doing it all on your own. He called you to it. He’s sure to take care of it.
Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.
– Hebrews 3:7-18
Do it today. Don’t delay. Don’t wait for the perfect conditions. Just wait on the perfect God.
